Kolthoff Thomas

I have had the pleasure of working with Megan both in her capacity as a facilitator and consultant for our organisation's change management initiative, as a facilitator for a strategic planning day and also participated in one of her development programmes. In each of these contexts, Megan has added value,  not just in terms of her knowledge and expertise, which is considerable, but also in terms of the approach that she takes. She has worked alongside our organisation, extracted the best from us, and whilst always respectful, challenges us to think beyond the obvious and work with ambiguity. She applies intellectual rigour to her work and continually develops her knowledge and thinking in order to be able to pass this on to her client organisations.  This combined with her pragmatism, results oriented approach and warm and engaging manner means that she truly "walks the talk". I have no hesitation in recommending Megan to other organisations.

Megan supported our national organisation through a major restructuring. Her skill in facilitating challenging conversations in an inclusive way enabled us to vision, design, develop and agree a unified structure for our 23 separate entities. Her extensive knowledge and practical application of organisational development, financial modelling, HR, change management and decision making processes enabled us to achieve momentous change in a relatively short timeframe. She is highly effective, completes work on time and on budget, is very adaptive and has an inclusive personal approach. Megan has my highest recommendation; I am happy to be contacted if you have questions.

Collaboration is not easy. We saw huge potential for Māori to lead collaborative change for whanau but needed help and guidance to make it happen and realise this potential. Megan has been our chosen muse. She has helped grow our knowledge by exposing us to new thinking and theory.  She has helped connect our iwi to the latest international thinking and other sites of social change around the globe.  Her sage advice and wisdom has helped us to negotiate our way through challenges on our journey and our mahi has been enriched through her contributions. She has been part of our journey and hope she may also help others to maximise their positive impact on the world as she has done with us.

Eruera Prendergast-Tarena, Kaihautu/CE, Te Tapuae o Rehua

We have worked with Megan for an extended period of time. This work has centred around Megan being an associate Venture Manager, where she has delivered coaching and business support to a range of social enterprises seeking to grow their viability and impact. Megan’s work has never been short of excellent - she combines a unique blend of calm, intensity, commercial acumen, and wisdom in respect to social change. She understands that human dynamics are at the heart of organisational performance, and has capability to support the development of both. Beyond external facing work, Megan has also become a source of support and direction for all of us at Ākina. She has the respect and trust of the team, and continues to be a source of insight and constructive challenge as we develop the scope and quality of our practice.

I have had the pleasure of working with Megan Thomas of Kolthoff Thomas several times over the last few years with three different organisations I am involved in. I have found her to be very respectful and easy to work with whilst challenging me to stretch my thinking. I appreciate her technical skills and her ability to communicate complex matters accessibly. Megan demonstrates integrity and a social conscience. She also demonstrates a sound understanding of the NGO Social Service sector that I operate in.
